i like your crabiat i wish mine was that big.... i have 2 hermies and they both are girls and i love them alot i want to take the best care for them as i can but sadly i rely on my mom for that because im 11 year old girl but, i know alot about animals for my age......my hermies names are sheka and flutter, i named flutter that because she had a butterfly on her shell and sheka because on my favorite show naruto one of my fave charictors nickname is sheka witch is short for shekamarou (im not sure how to spell it)......i use to have a turtle too, but we could not get the right stuff for him so we gave him a new home with a friend of my moms.... i miss him
:(

Good, because hermies are social animals by nature! They will LOVE to have friends!

kenny, i think that if you enjoy crabbing that for sure you should get more crabs! Hermies rule!!!!

I think your substrate needs to be deeper. It has to be twice as deep as your largest crab to be able to molt. I was reading what kENNY1tothe6 said in a previous comment and it would be great to get your hermit crab other hermie friends, but you cannot house them with anoles and other animals.

Hi! I just bought 3 hermit crabs from Wildwood, New Jersey and I am so so happy! I wish I could have a crabitat just like yours! :)

do you know what kind of paint I can use if I want to paint some shells for them? Also, do they prefer sand, because when I bought my hermies, they gave me painted aquarium rocks...

Hi Angel, I was hoping to create a steup like this for my hermies and was wondering what you used for them to be able to get up on the platform? It looks like a netting or mesh of some sort but I cant tell for sure!

angel again i love ur habitat!!it rocks... but can u use any kind of soil for a section of a tank??? and how many hermies can fit in a 10 gallon tank (sadly i cant get a bigger one :( ) but i was just wondering . thanks

Maddie,

for a 10 gallon tank I wouldnt overcrown it with too many hermies. I would say no more than 3 large or 4 small hermies. As for the soil, its called eco-earth. its pretty cool! U can get it at pet stores. It usually comes in a brick-like form or in a circular shape. You add water to it and it expands. I would NOT use regular ground soil. I really liked using eco-earth, but my problem with it is that it started to mold after awhile. However, the upside of it is that it maintains humidity awesomely!
