We will deem this one little Mentally Challenged Crab. I was dumping sand out of the large shells one night when I found a small crab in one of the BIGGEST shells in the tank. Its obvious that this crabs brain is much smaller than previously anticipated. It was pretty funny though to see such a small crab trying to lug around this huge shell. I mean, it was so much bigger than him that he couldnt even stick his eyes out of it to see! He couldnt even walk about with it on! I got a picture just in time before he changed into a small shell as you will see below.

my friend just got a second crab and it is so tiny, but its shell is so big. I cant even see his eyes!! she does not have any shells for it, but i do. If i but the little shell in with it, do you think the crab will go it it??
ummm I don't think retard crab is politically correct....I would say "Shell Challenged"
i have two crabs and i really dont spend a lot of time with them i mean i wet the sponge and give them fresh water but i dont play with them will they die if i dont spend a lot of time with them?
thanks
As with any living thing, they need attention. The best attention you can give them is to provide them with fresh water and food.
i have had the total oppasite happen to me i had a pretty big crab that moved in to a small shell.
Crablover.... that is really up to your crab if they chose to change or not. I too now have a crab that is in a shell that is way too small. Its almost as though they don't even realize it! :)
Crabl0ver123.... Crabs need more crab-to-crab contact than crab-to-human contact. Hermies are social animals by nature. In the wild they often travel in packs. It wouldn't hurt though to take them out of their crabitats at LEAST once a week and let them crawl around for some exercise! Be careful though! They often move fast and especially be careful if you have cats or dogs!
awwww!!!! he wanted to fit in!!!!!!lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol!!!
i am worrieed about my crabbies. i got the in june in florda and they still hve not molted or changed shells at all! is there any thig i can do?
weemer - those are good questions! One thing for sure you can do is to provide your hermies with a variety of different shells - a little bit bigger than the shell they currently call "home". As far as the molting process, this is done by instinct and they will only do it when they are good and ready!
Lol!Cute and funny at the same time.I dont have a hermie but my grandma is getting me one when it gets hotter.
aly, sounds great!!!! I hope this website helps you prepare for your future crabbies!
