Do hermit crabs mate in "crab"tivity?
From what I have read, no, hermit crabs do not mate in captivity, but I will give you one guess what these two guys are doing........

crabs mate in captivity but not as often as in the wild.

I would sure hope so! I guess just like other animals, they are all leary of one another at first. If there is a major size difference then it is possible for some sort of "ownership" in the tank.

when do you know when a hermit crab dies
usually when it dies it doesn't move for a while or if you wait to long you can smell it
wait, so when do crabs mate?? If they do mate, do they like get pregnant(the females)or something??
I have not done too much research on the whole "mating" aspect of hermit crabs because most owners do not have to worry about that, but from what I have read I do know that they lay eggs in the sea.
u can tell a hermit crab is a boy or girl by looking at its back legs if it has 2 lumps one on each leg then it is a girl if it does not have the lumps then it is a boy and if your hermie burries it self in the bottom of its
"crab"atat then it is mostlikely molting if it is there in the same spot for more than 2 days u might want to take it out of its "crab"atat because it might be dead......if your hermie goes in a corner of its "crab'atat and stays there then u might think its dead, dut it might not be dead it could just be in a deep, deep sleep, so hold it and talk to it in a gentle voice and say: wakey wakey i know u are alive wake up! alot of times it will wake up..... and come out so u know it is alive.....it will take about 5 min. to about a half hour for it to wake up if the half hour passes and it does not wake up...sorry my friend :( but it is dead.....
